Within the city of Xi’an there is a strong Muslim community. Right in the heart of the city lies the Muslim Quarter- busy streets filled with Halal food surrounding the Grand Mosque. At night, everything comes alive and you can taste some famous Xi’an snack food.
Lots of stores had dried fruit and nuts. You could even buy freshly roasted walnuts!
The Muslim Quarter also had wonderful tofu. I’m not a tofu fan but the way they were preparing it, even I was tempted to try!
However, the best part about that area is seeing the Drum and Bell Towers lit up at night! They are absolutely gorgeous.
Xi’an is such a historical city filled with pockets of diversity. It is refreshing to see the ancient and the new perfectly balanced within the city.
