This is the very famous 9 level pagoda in Guangzhou. During Chinese New Year, many people come to this Buddhist temple to pray for good things to come their way during the new year. Valerie and I both really enjoyed walking around and seeing all the incense and lanterns.
We next walked to the Temple of the Chen Family. They were a very influential (and rich) family in Guangzhou. They were very close to the emperor and thus had lots of power for many, many generations. Their temple was filled with beautiful gardens and architecture.
After all these temples, Valerie and I decided to head to the main shopping street in Guangzhou. And it was like Time’s Square!
We walked all along the winding street until we reached one of the rivers. By that time it was dark so the New Year decorations were all lit up to guide your way along the river side.
I really enjoyed all the lanterns! They were absolutely beautiful at night.
