Bai Yun Mountain, or White Cloud Mountain, is the most accessible hiking area in the city of Guangzhou.  I read that when you summit, the view will always be different because of the changing weather.  I had an absolute blast walking around and on top of the mountain for hours!

It says 白云山欢迎你 (Bai Yun Shan huanying ni), or Bai Yun Mountain welcomes you!

There were lots of people at the park today.  Some climbed up while others rode the cable car.  (I think the cable car is cheating but to each their own.)

I climbed all around that mountain-spent hours just enjoying the nice view.  However, I wanted to reach the summit.  Apparently, the section I was in required me to take the never ending stairs path.  Zac- it reminded me of the exorcism stairs!

I made it to the summit though!  And in case you were wondering that is legitimately fog, not smog.  Guangzhou has excellent air quality!

I really enjoy hiking.  It’s nice to walk with strangers, then pick up the pace and have the whole path to yourself.  It was a little rainy when I reached the summit but I got to see the entire city.  I’ve done a lot of hiking but I think it’s magical when you walk for hours up a mountain only to reach the top and see the city waiting for you below.  The way Guangzhou is designed around the mountains and river delta is quite a site to see.
