The People’s Park in Shanghai is a green space located in the heart of the city. Even on a Thursday morning, the park is packed with locals enjoying the space.
The women singing and performing are not doing it for money or attention. When walking through a public park in China, I noticed just how different it is than an American park. These performers are doing it because they wanted to– no one asked or accepted any money. It is a free and open area for them to practice and perform.
There was also some serious Mahjong games going on too! My Dad looked on at the excitement.
Many beautiful areas are tucked away inside Shanghai.
On one side of the park was a government building with a dried fountain outside. Many school children were playing and running across it because it made a great obstacle course.
Then out of the blue, the fountain turned on! Thank goodness no one was running on it otherwise they would have gotten soaked. Turning on the fountain did attract a curious crowd!
Next, my Dad and I visited the Bund. The Bund is a section of Shanghai which still reflects it’s French colonizers. Through the building facades and windy streets, the Bund district is like walking through France itself.
If you are in the Bund and look across the Huangpu River, you can see the futuristic skyline of Shanghai.
It was also beautiful to see at night too!
I like taking pictures at night like this because you can play! I’ll leave you with two of my favorites.
Thanks Shanghai for a great time!
