Tomorrow morning, I will be taking a plane from Beijing to Qinghai with my program.\u00a0 Qinghai is a province in Northwestern China.\u00a0 We will have nine days to explore this beautiful region of China.\u00a0 Qinghai is also located within the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. Wikipedia says the average elevation of Qinghai is 9,800 ft.\u00a0 So I may or may not experience some elevation sickness, either way I will let you all know!<\/p>\n
Since we will be traveling a lot during the nine days, I will not be able to bring my laptop hence the upcoming hiatus on my blog.\u00a0 However, I will take lots of photos and upload them all as soon as I return.\u00a0 I also may or may not have access to the internet so I will e-mail when I can but I may not be able to respond right away.<\/p>\n
Below is a detailed itinerary of my trip! So even though I won’t be able to blog, you can still keep track of what I will be doing everyday.<\/p>\n
Day 1: Travel to Qinghai by plane.\u00a0 It will only take us 3 hours to get there, then unwind in the evening.<\/p>\n
Day 2: Visit Grand Mosque in Xining to learn about Muslim culture in China.\u00a0 Eat at a local Muslim restaurant.<\/p>\n
Day 3: Explore Kumbum Monastery (also known as Ta’er). Hang out with monks and pilgrims!<\/p>\n
Day 4: Go hiking in Kanbula National Forest Park (I am so excited for this!) Have a picnic lunch then see the red standstone peaks.\u00a0 End the day by driving to Tongren.<\/p>\n
Day 5: Check into new hotel in Tongren.\u00a0 Visit Longwu Monastery. Get tour of local Tangka art school.<\/p>\n
Day 6: Drive to village and visit local farm families.\u00a0 Help locals pick their vegetables then cook lunch for them!<\/p>\n
Day 7: Enjoy Qinghai Lake and have a picnic lunch there.\u00a0 Mountain bike around the lake.<\/p>\n
Day 8: Visit a local school and hang out with the kids! We are also going to give them new school supplies!<\/p>\n
Day 9: Return to the airport and fly back to Beijing.<\/p>\n
