Most of the people decided to take horses up part of the way (the locals were very convincing!) but my friend Meghan and I decided to hike to the top.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/evacohnchina.summitbiztech.com\/2014\/03\/dscf2841.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image\" id=\"i-2530\" alt=\"Image\" src=\"https:\/\/evacohnchina.summitbiztech.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/dscf2841.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It was quite a steep way up.\u00a0 We even passed many residential houses and a family enjoying lunch outside.\u00a0 My favorite part is reaching the top!\u00a0 I love that moment when you can look out and just see the world below you.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>As we were hiking down, we stumbled upon Laotze himself!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/evacohnchina.summitbiztech.com\/2014\/03\/dscf2855.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image\" id=\"i-2536\" alt=\"Image\" src=\"https:\/\/evacohnchina.summitbiztech.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/dscf2855.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I had to cross an absolutely breath-taking white bridge to get to his statue.\u00a0 It was well worth the climb!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/evacohnchina.summitbiztech.com\/2014\/03\/dscf2858.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image\" id=\"i-2540\" alt=\"Image\" src=\"https:\/\/evacohnchina.summitbiztech.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/dscf2858.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/evacohnchina.summitbiztech.com\/2014\/03\/dscf2853.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image\" id=\"i-2543\" alt=\"Image\" src=\"https:\/\/evacohnchina.summitbiztech.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/dscf2853.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>As we passed through the gate on the way out, I couldn&#8217;t believe the beautiful view of these mountains was only an hour outside the city.\u00a0 Luckily for me, there are a lot more mountains to hike in the area so more adventures await!\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/evacohnchina.summitbiztech.com\/2014\/03\/dscf2866.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image\" id=\"i-2548\" alt=\"Image\" src=\"https:\/\/evacohnchina.summitbiztech.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/dscf2866.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Last Friday afternoon, a small group of us went to climb Lou Guan Tai.\u00a0 This mountain is quite famous in Xi&#8217;an because this is where Laotze apparently wrote the &#8220;Book of the Dao&#8221;.
