on top of the City Wall!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Xi&#8217;an is an old city.\u00a0 Old as in, it is one of China&#8217;s four great ancient capitals with over 3,100 years of history.\u00a0 With that being said, the ancient Xi&#8217;an is very different from the modern day Xi&#8217;an.\u00a0 However, these two dynamic sides still coincide together.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>When Xi&#8217;an was the capital of China, the people built a great wall around the city to protect it from outsiders.\u00a0 The wall is almost 16 miles in length and anywhere between 40-50 feet thick.\u00a0 Our program helped organize a trip where we could bike on top of the city wall!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/evacohnchina.summitbiztech.com\/2014\/02\/dscf2741.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image\" id=\"i-2437\" alt=\"Image\" src=\"https:\/\/evacohnchina.summitbiztech.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/dscf2741.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I was shocked when we climbed to the top how wide the wall actually was.\u00a0 If you looked out, it seemed like a large road was ahead of you.\u00a0 It didn&#8217;t even feel like you were on top of a wall with the city oozing out on both sides.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/evacohnchina.summitbiztech.com\/2014\/02\/dscf2715.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image\" id=\"i-2438\" alt=\"Image\" src=\"https:\/\/evacohnchina.summitbiztech.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/dscf2715.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Once I got over the initial awe of the wall, we began our (bumpy) bike ride.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/evacohnchina.summitbiztech.com\/2014\/02\/dscf2717.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image\" id=\"i-2439\" alt=\"Image\" src=\"https:\/\/evacohnchina.summitbiztech.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/dscf2717.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/evacohnchina.summitbiztech.com\/2014\/02\/dscf2719.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image\" id=\"i-2440\" alt=\"Image\" src=\"https:\/\/evacohnchina.summitbiztech.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/dscf2719.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>As I biked, I got to see the city from a different point of view.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/evacohnchina.summitbiztech.com\/2014\/02\/dscf2723.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image\" id=\"i-2441\" alt=\"Image\" src=\"https:\/\/evacohnchina.summitbiztech.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/dscf2723.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Some places (especially near the train station) were quite built up while other places were completely vacant.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/evacohnchina.summitbiztech.com\/2014\/02\/dscf2727.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image\" id=\"i-2442\" alt=\"Image\" src=\"https:\/\/evacohnchina.summitbiztech.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/dscf2727.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/evacohnchina.summitbiztech.com\/2014\/02\/dscf2734.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image\" id=\"i-2443\" alt=\"Image\" pictures were taken about 10 minutes apart.\u00a0 The city has expanded past the city wall now, but these vast differences inside the wall fascinates me.\u00a0 I&#8217;d like to explore more of the city and get to know why these differences exist.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>As I finished the bike ride, I saw this old man getting his panda kite ready to fly.\u00a0 It was a nice way to end the
