I&#8217;m so happy it&#8217;s over that I celebrated with a long nap.\u00a0 In the evening, I decided to go to a free performance of a Beijing opera on campus.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/evacohnchina.summitbiztech.com\/2013\/10\/dscf1336.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1371\" alt=\"DSCF1336\" src=\"https:\/\/evacohnchina.summitbiztech.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/dscf1336.jpg\" width=\"223\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It started off with this woman singing.\u00a0 She was excellent!\u00a0 She incorporated some arm gestures into her performance which she taught to some audience members afterwards!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/evacohnchina.summitbiztech.com\/2013\/10\/dscf1341.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1372\" alt=\"DSCF1341\" src=\"https:\/\/evacohnchina.summitbiztech.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/dscf1341.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"223\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The next performance was an Emperor telling a story.\u00a0 I had a hard time following along since he was singing in Chinese.\u00a0 At first I thought he was going to cut off his own leg but I was wrong! Thank goodness!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/evacohnchina.summitbiztech.com\/2013\/10\/dscf1344.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1373\" alt=\"DSCF1344\" src=\"https:\/\/evacohnchina.summitbiztech.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/dscf1344.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"223\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/evacohnchina.summitbiztech.com\/2013\/10\/dscf1347.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1374\" alt=\"DSCF1347\" src=\"https:\/\/evacohnchina.summitbiztech.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/dscf1347.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"223\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The last performance was my favorite.\u00a0 It was a scene from the opera where a young girl is a messenger between the Emperor and his wife.\u00a0 It was very funny (I think, I just laughed along when everyone else did!) Plus, the girl who played the messenger was really great.\u00a0 Someone even gave her a big bouquet of flowers at the end! Seeing a rendition of the Beijing opera was a neat experience since I learned all about it in one of the chapters in my Chinese textbooks.<\/p>\n<p>I went to bed early because today I am leaving to fly to Szechuan Province in Southern China!\u00a0 This week is our independent travel week so I will be in the city of Chengdu from Saturday till next Thursday! So I will not be able to update my blog until I return. I&#8217;m flying to Szechuan because they have the most famous nature reserve of pandas in China! I&#8217;m going to see pandas! I&#8217;m so excited! I&#8217;ll also be doing some hiking and exploring!
