This week I have my second Chinese exam so I’ve been a study bug. However, tonight was my friend Karen’s 生日 (birthday) so I decided to go out and celebrate! We met at a Chinese-Mexican restaurant called La Bamba. I ate delicious tacos and birthday cake. It was a very multi-cultural birthday party to say the least.
I had to leave early to meet my language partner, Xu Jia. I have to admit that I think I had more fun just talking with her because she helped me learn a bunch of new grammar tricks. We sat in a cafe for 2 hours just going over my homework and sentence patterns I need to know for my exam.
Although its important to go out, explore, and have fun, I think I benefit more if I put in some extra study time. I don’t know why but even today I went to a bakery and the staff yelled out 排队!which means form a line. I knew what that meant! The more time I put into studying, the more I understand when I go out into the city.
I’m sure other people would disagree with me but do what works for you, right?

Who would disagree with studying? But I bet YOU could do both well.
