I’ve seen more KFC’s in China than I’ve seen McDonalds. Now I don’t know the exact numbers but there are a ridiculous number of KFC’s in Beijing. It’s absurd!
Most Beijingers take public transportation, walk, bike, or ride scooters to get from place to place. People in Beijing are completely silent when they walk, bike, or ride scooters. They just wizzzzzz past you leaving only a few inches to spare between you and them. They also use the street AND sidewalk. No where is safe and you must be on high alert to ensure that you stay out of their way. The one nice courtesy is the little horn they press to let you know they are directly behind you and you should be anywhere but where you are at the moment.
Our campus is really pretty! Although my university is approximately 50 years old, some of the trees on campus are over 200 years old! This is because this area used to be part of a Chinese emperor’s palace. No structures exist but the trees still stand mature and beautiful! Temple University should take some notes!
