A Note on Subscribing

你好大家!

Nihao everybody! I am stuck here, glued to my desk.  Studying away like a maniac! Although I am not in an intensive Chinese program, we are learning a chapter a day in our book which means I need to focus, focus, focus. 40 new vocab words, 2 dialogues, and lots of grammar points need to be in grained in my head everyday.

However, I did want to drop a quick line to say hello! My Dad found a quick and easy way to subscribe to my blog (get emails whenever I post something new)! Essentially, if you enter and post a comment on my blog, an option appears where you can put in your e-mail address to sign up for a subscription to my blog.  Yet, it’s a little tricky because you want to specifically sign up to follow any new posts (that’s me!).

There you go! That’s it! Now you don’t have to remember to check everyday or so to get updates.  Please let me know if any issues arise and I will try and clear them up!

谢谢!

Thanks!

  1. Eva is getting fancy with the 谢谢 stuff. Don’t get left behind. Copy the Chinese characters and paste them into Google Translate at http://translate.google.com/. After you paste the characters in the box, make sure that English is selected as the target language and Voila! (that isn’t Chinese) you too can crack the secret code! 我什至沒有學習四個小時才能做到這一點!

      • Hello Cohn Tai Tai (later, future, but that’s all I remembered. I was called Mei Taitai); actually Cohn 女士, I love this translator tool! Hearing the language and seeing it in characters plus ping ying makes it so much easier. Are you learning simplified or traditional or both? Glad you’re enjoying the food and sites. Love your thoughts and interesting photos.

You may want to think about protecting your lungs…you may need to find a place to exercise (cardiovascular) in a clean air environment like a gym. I have friends from Hong Kong that moved here because of the pollution and health risks. The effect can build up so you need a strategy.

Thanks for sharing the experiences and the interesting details! It’s really an excellent blog.

Note on 拖鞋 slippers: At least you probably have normal size feet that will fit into their slippers when you visit a home. (Mine are impossible; friends bought me XL sizes and gave up. I wear socks and smile.)

Are you sleeping ok with the wood support?….Maybe you can locate a pad or more foam in a cheap store. But you’re the strong woman for sure!

        有一個好的一天!

  2. Hello Eva,

You say you are stuck here and glued to your desk. I view stuck differently. I find your stuck adventurous. To be young and doing just what you dreamed of doing. In a foreign land exploring a whole new world. Doing something no one else in your family is doing…to me that is becoming unstuck in doing the same old thing! Enjoy your time there…it will be over sooner than you can imagine. Then you will be stuck with us! LOL! Just a little something funny from home! Glad you are working so hard! One good thing, when you come home and talk to us in a foreign language you won’t have to worry about what you say, be it correct or incorrect, because we won’t know the difference.

    Be safe and happy,

    Hugs from Aunt Terrie

  3. Eva, you made it over there! Cheers and smiles! Thanks for creating this blog! I was super delighted to see it. Thanks to your Dad for sharing it with me. I was glad to find out you’re doing ok. Have they introduced the latest “road kill” to you yet? You’re an amazing woman with great strength!

P.S. I like the ping ying for now. I probably remember less than 100 characters.

    • Hello! I’m so happy my Dad shared it with you! This is the best way to see all my pictures and read about my experiences so far. Hope all is well with you! Zaijian!

  4. Dear Eva,
Wow, I am just catching up on your blog about your adventures in China! You take beautiful pictures and write amazing journals that bring us right there, right beside you. What bold, colorful, and a creative life you are showing us, China and you.
